Famille DUTRAIVE - Cap ô Sud - Carignan 2016
The Domaine de la Grand'Cour is located in the Beaujolais region, and has vineyards in the appellations of Fleurie (9 hectares) and Brouilly (1.6 hectares). The Domaine was bought in 1969 by Jean Dutraive, it is one of the oldest estates in Fleurie. Jean Dutraive was joined by his son Jean-Louis in 1977 and succeeded him definitively in 1989. The vineyard has always been managed in organic farming, and has been certified since 2009. The Dutraive family also has a trading activity; they source their grapes from organic winegrower friends to make wines.
In 2016, between the frost in May and the hail that ravaged Fleurie a month later, he lost 90% of his grapes. From this loss, the Cap ô Sud wine was born. This is a “trade cuvée”, a wine made from the purchase of organically grown Carignan grapes by the family friend Magali Terrier from Domaine des Deux Anes in Corbières.
Grape variety: 100% Carignan
