Laguiole en Aubrac (Cutlery)

It was in 1829 that a modest farmer knife was born in Laguiole, a small mountain village in Aveyron in southwestern France. Its famous bee, symbol of prestige and quality, which adorns its spring will make it the most famous knife in France. The rebirth of the manufacture of the Laguiole knife in its historic area dates back to the 1980s. This artisanal activity suffered a decline in the 1920s in the face of the industrialisation of cutlery in the basin of the town of Thiers. At that time, keen to be able to manufacture in accordance with the local artisanal tradition, Laguiole En Aubrac created a forge in the small village of Montézic, located a stride from Laguiole.
