Château LA CONSEILLANTE 2007
Pomerol
The name of La Conseillante appears from the middle of the 18th century. It was bequeathed by an influential person who ran the property almost 300 years ago: Catherine Conseillan. It was in 1871 that the Nicolas family bought the estate, the size and plot of which have not changed since.
Currently, it is the fifth generation of Nicolas who manages the château, thus marking the continuity and attachment of a family to a great wine. Bertrand Nicolas and Jean-Valmy Nicolas are co-managers of La Conseillante. Marielle Cazaux is the Director.
The vineyard, which benefits from a unique terroir, predominantly clay, is planted with 80% Merlot which brings roundness, fullness and smoothness. The remaining 20%, planted on Graves, carry Cabernet-Franc which brings structure and freshness to the blend.
Reasoned viticulture, control of yields, search for optimal maturity, strict sorting, replanting, all these care brought to the vines benefit from an unparalleled plot-based vinification tool.
La Conseillante has, in fact, equipped itself with efficient and modern facilities, including a new vat room which allows “tailor-made” vinification of the 18 micro-plots spread over the 12 hectares of the property.
If its vineyard, unchanged since its creation in the heart of the greatest terroirs of Pomerol is obviously a guarantee of its excellence, it could not have been expressed with such consistency, without the care taken for 145 vintages, by generations of the Nicolas family who have succeeded at its head and who have been able to transmit and preserve this unique heritage.
The Conseillante has an inimitable style. In each vintage, the wine is characterized by a deep and brilliant ruby color. The nose develops a complex aromatic palette, associating violet, liquorice, truffle and small red fruits. This wine is distinguished by its harmony, finesse and complexity.
