Château Climens, owned by the Lurton family since 1971, is undoubtedly one of the world's greatest sweet wines. Its vineyard covers 30 hectares planted with Sémillon. Its soil consists of fine gravel and red sands resting on a base of limestone. The average age of the vines is of the order of 35 years with an annual renewal of the order of 3 to 4%. The yield remains one of the lowest in the appellation in order to obtain a unique concentration. The pickers carefully choose grapes rich enough in botrytis cinerea (the famous noble rot of Sauternes). After fermentation in oak barrels, the wine is aged for two years before being bottled. Château Climens stands out for its power and smoothness, developing intense aromas of citrus and exotic fruits. A very large sweet wine with a aging potential of several decades in the great vintages. It undeniably has the power and fat of a Sauternes and the finesse and nervousness of a Barsac.
