HAZELBURN - 8 years - Cask Strength - Sherry Wood - Edition 2025 - 48.2%
Springbank Distillery is one of only two remaining distilleries in the Campbeltown area of the Kintyre Peninsula in southwest Scotland . It produces single malt whisky under three different labels in distinct styles; Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn . Springbank Distillers was founded in 1828 by Archibald and Hugh Mitchell , becoming the 14th licensed distillery in Campeltown—by 1934, only Springbank and Glen Scotia remained. It remains owned by the direct descendants of the founders. The distillery is one of the only ones in Scotland to carry out all of its production on-site, including traditional barley malting and bottling. This process control helps the distillery manage three distinct styles, all influenced by cask choice and the local climate. Springbank's parent company, JA Mitchell & Sons, also reopened the Glengyle distillery in 2004, where single malts are produced under the Kilkerran brand. Independent bottler Cadenhead's is also part of the group.
Hazelburn , bottled since 2005, is triple distilled using only air-dried malt. The name refers to another Campbeltown distillery, once the town's largest, which operated between 1825 and 1925, with Mitchell & Co. as owner from 1920.
This limited edition Hazelburn was distilled in February 2007 and bottled in March 2025 and produced 10,500 bottles . The whisky was aged for 8 years in Oloroso Sherry casks .
Unpeated
"This Hazelburn 8 Year Old Cask Strength captivates with its richness and precision: notes of roasted figs, caramelized nuts and supple leather, supported by a silky texture and controlled power. Triple distillation gives it remarkable finesse, while aging in Oloroso Sherry casks brings depth and indulgence."
