Château HAUT-BERGEY - Cuvée PAUL 2017
Château Haut-Bergey is located in Pessac-Léognan, in Bordeaux. It dates back from the 15th century, but the Château that was built in 1850 as a leisure residence had an abandoned vineyard. It belongs to the Garcin family since 1991. When managed by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard, the property underwent a vast rehabilitation plan for both the vines and the cellars, while adopting the basics of environmentally conscious agriculture. Since 2014, Paul Garcin has decided to run the estate in organic farming and then in certified biodynamics. The vineyard spreads over 28.5 hectares, mostly planted with red grape varieties while 2 hectares are dedicated to the production of white wine. The Vignobles Garcin portfolio also includes Clos L'Église in Pomerol, other Château in Pessac-Léognan and Bodega Poesia in Mendoza.
Cuvée Paul Rouge is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Harvest is completed by hand using small crates to avoid damaging the fruit. Red grapes are vinified in small, temperature-controlled, stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 14 months, 30% of which is new.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
