Clos Dufourg - Margaux 2020
Château des Graviers is located in Arsac, in the Margaux appellation area of the Bordeaux wine region. It has belonged to the Dufourg-Landry family for several generations: Christophe Landry represents the fifth generation and has been producing wines since the mid-1990s. The Graviers vineyard covers 13 hectares of vines divided into different plots and certified organic since 2012. Christophe purchased new plots to create Clos Dufourg : a small 4.5-hectare cru from several types of terroirs. The construction of a new winery allows him to fully experiment with different winemaking and aging methods with several types of containers: barrels, amphorae, concrete vats, jars...
Clos Dufourg is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc . The Merlot undergoes a long fermentation process; it is aged in 400-liter barrels, ensuring minimal contact with air for up to 24 months. The Cabernet Franc is vinified using carbonic maceration and is aged with 10% new oak. The Petit Verdot is aged in clay amphorae, resulting in a more oxygenated wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in 225-liter barrels submerged in water to control oxidation; adjustment is made based on tannin levels. The Malbec is harvested at maturity and aged in barrels.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec
