Château des Graviers 2019 - Margaux
Situated on the gravelly hillsides of Arsac, Château des Graviers boasts a classic Margaux style, precise and elegant. Careful vineyard management, plot-by-plot harvests, and meticulous sorting aim for fine ripeness and a silky tannic structure faithful to the terroir.
The sunny and consistent 2019 vintage produced grapes of great purity. Gentle vinification in temperature-controlled vats, with measured extractions to preserve the fruit's brightness. Aged for approximately twelve to sixteen months in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood to refine the grain without marking the wine. Bottled at the château after resting in vats to harmonize the whole.
The nose opens with violet, blackberry, and blackcurrant, complemented by notes of black cherry, cedar, and a touch of graphite. The palate is straight and velvety, full-bodied, supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins. The middle of the palate combines juicy black fruits, sweet licorice, and a melted oaky note with hints of mocha. The finish is long and fresh, with hints of blond tobacco, bitter orange, and a hint of menthol typical of Margaux.
At the table, choose a matured rib of beef, a pink rack of lamb, a duck breast, a truffled chicken, or a tournedos with morels. Pair well with a mature Comté or a mature cheddar. Serve between 16 and 18°C in a wide glass. Open one to two hours before serving or decant for about 60 minutes to loosen the bouquet. Ideal tasting window from now until 2035, depending on the winery.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot around 35% and 5% Petit Verdot
