Blanc du Château VIEUX TAILLEFER 2019
Château Vieux Taillefer is located in Saint-Emilion, in Bordeaux. The family property covers 4.8 hectares and produces three wines: Château Vieux Taillefer, Pavillon de Taillefer and Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer in the Bordeaux appellation. Since 2006, the estate has been managed by Philippe and Catherine Cohen. They have been working since 2010 with the services of Claude and Lydia Bourguignon in order to find out in detail their terroir and thus adapt a farming method to vines close to organic farming.
The Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer is an unusual blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc and Chasselas. Each plot is vinified separately in concrete vats. After classic vinification, the wine is aged in oak barrels. This micro-plot, the oldest known to grow white grape varieties in Saint-Emilion, produces 1,200 bottles. It is not recognised as a Saint-Emilion Cru because of the Merlot Blanc used in the blend.
