Château Marquis de Terme - Cuvée 1762 - Vintage 2019
Nestled in the heart of Margaux, Château Marquis de Terme perpetuates the spirit of the great deep gravel terroirs. Owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935, this 4th Grand Cru Classé from 1855 vinifies plot by plot to preserve the floral identity and tannic finesse specific to the appellation. The precision of the extractions and aging results in red Bordeaux that are both distinguished, digestible, and made for aging.
Cuvée 1762 pays homage to the estate's founding year and concentrates the expression of the best plots. A sunny vintage with clear ripeness. Hand-picked, rigorously sorted, and gentle vatting to enhance the fruit's brilliance. Aged in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new wood, for 12 to 16 months to refine the grain and harmonize the texture. Bottled at the château after resting in the cellar.
The nose opens with violet, blackberry, and blackcurrant, complemented by notes of dark chocolate, bitter orange, and licorice. The palate is full and creamy, supported by silky tannins that envelop a heart of black fruits and cherry. The mid-palate gains in depth with accents of cedar, mocha, and a fresh structure that stretches the profile. The finish is long and savory, with reminiscences of blond tobacco and cocoa, with a minty touch typical of Margaux.
At the table, choose a matured rib of beef, a roast rack of lamb, a duck breast, a tournedos with morels or a truffled chicken. Pair well with a mature Comté or an old Mimolette. Serve between 16 and 18°C in a large glass. Open two hours before serving or decant for 60 minutes to loosen the bouquet. Ideal tasting window from 2025 to 2038 depending on cellar conditions.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 45%, Cabernet Franc 5%
