RUM of JAMAICA - HABITATION VELIER - White rum - Forsyths WP 151 Proof - Vintage 2017 - 75,5%
Habitation Velier is a project born from the will of Luca Gargano, probably the greatest rum specialist in this world. Luca Gargano comes from a large Italian family, known for the quality of his goods, a family of explorers who aims a qualitative rather than lucrative distribution. For each distilleries, the aim is to highlight the best distillers from their Pure Single rums, each time with an original project signed by Habitation Velier to produce a world first for each unique signature distillery.
Worthy Park was established in the 1670s, the sugar industry started there around 1710 and the distillation of molasses rums began soon after, designating Worthy Park Estate as the oldest distillery in Jamaica. Only 3 families headed the estate, the Price family, Francis Price being the first owner of the estate for services to the British Crown. In 1863, the estate passed into the hands of the Talbot family and since 1918 is owned by the Clarke family. Between 1950 and 2005, the distillation activity stops at the order of the Jamaican government but the sugar industry continues. The distillation is done in a single Forsyths still pot still double report copper, so dear to the realization of rum in the Jamaican style. At Worthy Park Estate, the environment is a major concern and occupies a key place in decision-making and business activity.
This Forsyths WP 151 Proof white rum was therefore distilled into a Forsyths still, as its name suggests from the 2017 vintage. It is a Worthy Park distillery production although the distillery refused to name it. mentioned in the title of this bottle, it is proposed to us by Habitation Velier. This version is relatively strong at 75.5% and belongs to the heavy rum category, particularly concentrated in aromatic molecule. It was therefore bottled at the historical level of Jamaican rums.
