Château SUDUIRAUT 1959

Often considered one of the best wines of the appellation, Château Suduiraut is a close neighbor of Yquem. Reconstructed in the 17th century by Count Blaise de Suduiraut after the wars of the Fronde, the estate includes a beautiful residence whose gardens were designed by Le Nôtre.

The Château Suduiraut vineyard is based on heterogeneous soil, composed of sandy and silliceous gravel associated with clay-limestone soils. Its location, near the Ciron and the Garonne, is particularly conducive to the appearance, in the fall, of the famous noble rot or “botrytis cinerea”. The richness of the terroir now makes it possible to obtain extremely refined and complex wines. Château Suduiraut is a tasty and intensely syrupy wine that develops magnificent aromas after a long stay in the bottle. Note the production, in great vintages, of a Cuvée Crème de Tête (formerly called Cuvée Madame) that can compete with the prestigious Château d'Yquem. Note: due to disastrous climatic conditions, the 1991, 1992 and 1993 vintages were not produced.
