Domaine HENRI BONNEAU - Marie Beurrier 2013 Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Domaine HENRI BONNEAU - Marie Beurrier 2013
This cuvée comes from a blend of different plots whose juices are judged to be of superior quality to the base cuvée, part coming from the very prestigious terroir of “La Crau”. Aging is carried out in old oak barrels of 3 to 6 years. Marie Beurrier is at the top of the poster of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines and offers a little more drinkability than her big sister 'Réserve des Célestins'.
2013 is a decent vintage for the Rhône if we compare it to Burgundy or Bordeaux. Winter and spring were harsh and rainy, which considerably slowed the bud break and the vegetative cycle as a whole. The summer was radiant despite stormy episodes which developed strong health pressures such as coulure or botrytis. The yields are very average and the harvests very late. A 2013 vintage which gives this Marie-Beurrier cuvée a certain precocity when tasting.
The dress is dark purple. The nose is already quite open, on notes of kirsch cherry, cocoa, slightly smoky and spicy. The palate is suave offering a lot of flexibility. There are marked tannins but still less massive than usual. Beautiful length and more than honorable quality.
