DOMAINE DE CAMBES 2014
Roc de Cambes is a premier wine producer from the Cotes de Bourg appellation in Bordeaux. The château was purchased by François Mitjavile, owner of Saint-Emilion's esteemed Château Le Tetre-Rôteboeuf, in 1988 and is known as one of the top estates from its appellation. It produces a Merlot-based Bordeaux blend and a second wine, Domaine de Cambes, that is sold as Bordeaux AOC.
The vineyards are situated on south-facing slopes near the Gironde, and cover 12 hectares of land. Vines are planted to deep clay-limestone soils and are close to 50 years of age. Merlot comprises well over a half of the total plantings at around 75%, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The estate's wine is vinified in temperature-controlled concrete tanks before barrel maturation in 50% new French oak for 18 to 24 months.
