Domaine Jules Desjourneys - Fleurie 2009
After founding and managing a company specializing in the distribution of Burgundy wines, Fabien Duperray decided to embark on a new adventure: becoming a winemaker. The 4.5 hectares of Domaine Jules Desjourneys are located in La-Chapelle-de-Guinchay and are cultivated manually according to the principles of biodynamics .
He acquired old vine terroirs in 2007 and created Domaine Jules Desjourneys, which has since produced excellent Beaujolais wines, worthy of the best grands crus . And to produce wines of such quality, he chose to engage his production in biodynamics. Year after year, he refined his approach, experienced several things, questioned his own practices and decisions. He seems to have found his path and his vintages definitely stand out on the Beaujolais market.
The 2009 Fleurie comes from Gamay vines planted on the clay-limestone terroirs of Chapelle-des-Bois and Moriers . The harvest is manual and the fruit is carefully sorted. Vinification takes place in whole bunches , for a semi-carbonic maceration in truncated, open wooden vats. Aging lasts at least 24 months in a mixture of Burgundy barrels, new demi-muids and one or two wines. The wine is kept at the estate until it is ready for tasting.
Grape variety: 100% Gamay
