ABERLOUR - A Bunadh - Batch 75 - Bottled 2022 - 60.9%
The Aberlour Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland , in the village of the same name which means "mouth of the babbling brook" in Gaelic. James Fleming founded the Aberlour Distillery in 1879, choosing a location that not only provided a safe supply of pure spring water that flowed over the pink granite of Ben Rinnes, but also a location rooted in ancient times and renowned for its magical relationship with water. In 1898, the distillery was ravaged by fire. The reconstruction was carried out by the famous architect Charles Doig and made it possible to double the production capacity in 1974, going from 2 to 4 stills. Pernod Ricard acquired the company in 1975 and is run within its subsidiary Chivas Brothers .
The four stills now produce 3,500,000 liters per year. During the distillation of the alcohol, the master distiller divides the colorless new-make into three parts: the head, the heart and the tail. Only the heart, with delicate berry aromas, enters the spirits tank for the maturation of the Aberlour Single Malt. The top and bottom fractions are returned to the still to be distilled again.
A'Bunadh means " the original " in G a elic. It pays homage to Aberlour's founder , James Fleming. The whiskey is aged in Oloroso Sherry casks and is bottled cask strength .
