GLENFIDDICH - Malt Master's Edition - 43%
Glenfiddich is located in Dufftown , in the Speyside region of Scotland . The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant , who built the distillery himself, with the help of his nine children. The introduction of prohibition in the United States in 1920 was disastrous for most distilleries in Scotland, but Glenfiddich saw an opportunity. It was one of six distilleries still operating at the time of the repeal, and its management actually increased production during the period. Thus, Glenfiddich was ideally placed to meet the increased demand following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, thereby enhancing its reputation in the United States. Glenfiddich is known for responding well to difficult times, and when the whiskey industry collapsed in the 1960s and 1970s, the company expanded production again and began a series of advertising campaigns actively marketing the whiskey as a as Single Malt, in its famous triangular bottle.
The distillery has an extensive infrastructure ; the 28 stills can produce 10 million liters of spirits per year, making Glenfiddich the largest distillery in Scotland . Glenfiddich's parent company, William Grant & Sons , also owns the Balvenie distillery, as well as Grant's blend, Hendrick's Gin and Drambuie liqueur.
The first edition of the Malt Masters series is first aged in ex-Bourbon casks before being transferred to ex -sherry casks .
