Bordeaux > Saint Emilion
Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2023 follows the unique tradition of this legendary Saint-Émilion cru, shaped by an artisanal and timeless approach. Located on the limestone plateau to the east of the appellation, the estate benefits from clay-limestone soils that bring depth, freshness, and a very pure expression of the fruit. The philosophy of Tertre Roteboeuf is based on attentive viticulture and controlled yields, favoring optimal grape maturity and respectful vinification, without seeking standardization. The 2023 vintage, marked by a fine balance between freshness and maturity, allowed the creation of a precise, harmonious wine true to the identity of the cru. This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru asserts a distinctive personality, where elegance always takes precedence over showiness. The nose is expressive and nuanced, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits, black cherry, and plum, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a subtle spicy range. Upon aeration, nuances of cocoa, sweet licorice, and a slightly smoky touch appear, adding complexity and depth. On the palate, the attack is broad and silky, supported by dense yet perfectly balanced matter. The tannins are fine, velvety, and very well integrated, supporting a pure and luminous fruit. The mid-palate combines roundness, freshness, and length, with a long, harmonious, and persistent finish, marked by the precision and delicacy of the limestone terroir. Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2023 will ideally accompany refined gastronomy, roasted meats, lamb, duck, or dishes with elegant sauces. It will also pair very well with aged cheeses, thanks to its structure and silky mouthfeel. Clos des Millésimes Bordeaux offers this wine in a selection dedicated to great Bordeaux wines of character, highlighting confidential estates with strong identity. This 2023 vintage is aimed at lovers of elegant and profound Saint-Émilion, offering both immediate pleasure and real aging potential.

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2023

Château Tertre Roteboeuf is a legendary address in Saint-Émilion, embodied by the unique and uncompromising vision of François Mitjavile. Located on the southeast slope of the plateau, the estate cultivates a philosophy entirely its own in Bordeaux, favoring perfect fruit ripeness, respect for the terroir, and a consciously artisanal approach. Yields are very low, vineyard work is extremely precise, and every decision is guided by the pursuit of emotion rather than appellation conventions. Over the vintages, Tertre Roteboeuf has established itself as a cult wine, recognized for its sensual, deep, and timeless style. Each bottle tells a story of patience, conviction, and freedom.

The 2023 vintage of Château Tertre Roteboeuf continues this tradition of absolute rigor. Made mostly from Merlot complemented by Cabernet Franc, the wine comes from old vines planted on clay-limestone and clay-siliceous soils. The vinification is carried out uncompromisingly, with extreme attention to grape maturity and gentle extraction. The long aging in new barrels is an integral part of the wine's identity, bringing texture and depth while harmoniously integrating with the material. The 2023 vintage stands out for its natural balance, combining richness, freshness, and precision, true to the estate's DNA. It is a wine designed for the long term, never sacrificing pleasure.

On the palate, Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2023 seduces with its controlled intensity and unique mouthfeel. The nose opens with deep aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and candied red fruits, accompanied by floral notes, soft spices, and a noble, perfectly blended oak. The palate is broad, silky, and enveloping, supported by very fine tannins that give the wine an almost velvety sensation. Natural freshness balances the richness of the fruit, bringing remarkable harmony and great length. The finish is deep, persistent, and elegant, leaving an impression of fullness. This wine pairs magnificently with roasted meats, lamb, characterful beef, or refined gourmet cuisine, and promises superb cellar aging.

Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
