Domaine de Cambes 2023
Domaine de Cambes is one of the emblematic projects of the Mitjavile family on the right bank of Bordeaux, located on the Bourg hills overlooking the Gironde estuary. Driven by the same philosophy as Tertre Roteboeuf and Roc de Cambes, the estate claims an artisanal, free approach resolutely focused on expressing the fruit and the terroir. The vines, planted on clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils, benefit from a privileged exposure that promotes optimal ripeness. The style of Cambes is distinguished by its sensual elegance, natural depth, and immediately charming character. It is a wine that breaks free from the classic codes of the appellation to offer a more intimate and emotional vision of Bordeaux.
The Domaine de Cambes 2023 comes from a blend dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, from carefully selected parcels. The 2023 vintage offers a very accomplished balance, with ripe, precise grapes endowed with beautiful natural freshness. The vinification is conducted gently to preserve the finesse of texture and the aromatic brightness of the fruit. Barrel aging fully contributes to the wine's signature, bringing depth, relief, and complexity without ever overpowering the material. This cuvée continues the stylistic continuity of the estate, combining immediate pleasure and aging potential.
On tasting, the Domaine de Cambes 2023 seduces with its silky mouthfeel and generous expression. The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and intense red fruits, accompanied by spicy, floral notes and a noble woodiness perfectly integrated. The palate is ample, enveloping, and remarkably balanced, supported by fine tannins that give a velvety sensation. The wine's natural freshness extends the tasting and provides great drinkability despite the richness of the material. The finish is long, harmonious, and elegant. This wine ideally accompanies roasted meats, lamb, flavorful beef, or refined gastronomic cuisine, while offering good cellar aging potential.
