Château RAUZAN-SÉGLA 1974
The Rauzan-Ségla estate was created by Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan in 1661. This vineyard and that of Rauzan-Gassies then formed only one, until his death in 1692. The estate remained in the hands of nearly 300 years. the founding family, not being sold until 1957 to Philippe de Meslon, after having particularly suffered from the frosts of the previous winter. During the centuries which followed, the castle knew several owners, appreciating in passing various transformations. He lived in particular a major replacement of his vines, a mechanization of the property, the construction of a new cellar, as well as several other material improvements.
Rauzan-Ségla has known another spelling throughout its history: when the Cruse family acquired it in 1903, it juxtaposed the “s” of its name to form Rausan-Ségla . It is only when its current owners buy the domain that the original spelling is found.
