Château Baret 2018 – Pessac-Léognan Red
Located in Villenave-d’Ornon, at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Baret is a historic estate whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. The vineyard, completely restructured in recent decades, benefits from an exceptional terroir of gravel and clay, ideal for the flourishing of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and the white grape varieties of Bordeaux. Today, under the stewardship of the Ballande family, Baret is recognized as one of the rising stars of the appellation.
The 2018 vintage was marked by a warm and sunny summer, which allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The Merlot shows richness and velvety texture, while the Cabernet brings structure and elegance. At Château Baret, the balance is remarkable: concentration, freshness, and roundness combine to deliver a complete and harmonious wine with excellent aging potential.
Its deep red color with garnet highlights reveals intensity. The bouquet opens with aromas of ripe black fruits, cherry, and cassis, lifted by toasted notes, mocha, and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is full and fleshy, supported by supple, perfectly integrated tannins. The long, savory finish lingers on nuances of dark fruits and precious wood. An elegant yet generous Pessac-Léognan, perfect with grilled meats, game, or aged cheeses.
