Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 2014

The chateau comprises 28 ha planted on a gravelly soil, slightly richer than that of Haut-Brion which faces it. It is also always fascinating to compare them. If we want to define the specificity of this famous cru from the vintages tasted, we would say that it looks a lot like Château Haut-Brion. It has the same qualities of suppleness, of melt-away - which in no way prevents long and glorious evolutions in the bottle -, as well as the same very original smoky bouquet, but its shape in the mouth is quite different, smoother, deeper. en primeur, more charming, because easier to understand from the first years. With age, La Mission yields to Haut-Brion in complexity of style and pure finesse, but surpasses its neighbor in voluptuous texture. As you can see, these two cousins, vinified by the same team and with the same high standards, are perfect reflections of their own terroirs and the choice of grape varieties.
