The grapes specifically harvested for Alter Ego in 2015 offered an expressiveness rarely seen since the creation of this wine in 1998. Blended from grapes harvested on September 15 (with young Merlots) then from September 22 to October 7, the 52% of Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, make Alter Ego 2015a wine of beautiful smoothness with bright aromas of wild berries that blend harmoniously with the change of scenery brought by oriental spices. On the palate, the tannic texture of this Margaux is deep, precise, soft, racy to the point that it is obvious to classify 2015 without exaggeration among the greatest vintages of the property. The finish is silky with a nice gourmet expression of Merlot, particularly fresh and generous this year. Since 1945, only the 1965 vintage has not honored the number 5 with its quality. There is no doubt that 2015 will be in line with the last great vintages such as 2010, 2009 and 2005.
