Domaine Oratoire Saint Martin - Les P'tits Gars 2018
The Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin has been passed down from father to son for 300 years: ten generations have succeeded each other on the same vineyard since André Alary in 1692. Frédéric and François Alary took over the farm in 1984 and farm 25 hectares of land. the slopes of Saint-Martin whose oratory, built in the middle of vineyards, gave the name to the estate.
Most of the Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin is located northeast of the municipality of Cairanne, 200 meters above sea level on steep hills in an area commonly called "the mountain". These are steep hillsides requiring the use of crawler tractors on the steepest slopes. It is a very stony terroir with yellow clay on the surface and deep blue clay with a very important percentage of active limestone.
Everything is thought and thought out to obtain a vintage of great quality and a deep respect of the soil. The Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin is certified in organic farming, the vines are worked without pesticides, without chemical fertilizers and without herbicides, the soil is mechanically worked entirely on the old vines to bury organic compost (sheep manure) and promote deep root development. The manual harvest is sorted a first time by the pickers and a second time on a sorting table. The vinification is done in open tanks with punching for the Cairanne and in closed tanks with winding for the Côtes-du-Rhône. The aging is done in vats, half-casks or tuns.
