Reimonenq - Cuvée Première - 40%
The Reimonenq Distillery is located in Sainte Rose, Guadeloupe. In 1915, Joseph Reimonenq bought a former plantation of cocoa and medicinal plants from Doctor Diavet and began to clear the land for the planting of sugar cane and the construction of the distillery, which was then made of wood. Joseph Reimonenq worked in the bank and at the same time took care of negotiating the sale of rum to mainland France and the administration of the distillery while Fernand Reimonenq took care of the land and the day-to-day management of the estate. André Bon joined them and provided them with a steam engine and a mill. A few years later, he sold his shares and left for Bordeaux where he would trade in sugar and rum. When Fernand died, his son Léopold Reimonenq continued the adventure. However in 1970, the distillery was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt and started producing rum again in 1974.
Première Cuvée is an Old Rum aged 4 years in oak barrels. Thanks to the tropical temperature, the rum improves by absorbing the tannin of the wood.
