Château LA POINTE 1999
Château La Pointe is located in the Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. The property dates from 1845, and has been controlled by the Arfeuille family since 1941. Since 2006, it has been owned by the insurance company Generali France . Since then, several key improvements have been made to both viticulture and winemaking.
Château La Pointe is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The wine is aged in oak barrels. The 1999 vintage is often overshadowed by the 2000 Bordeaux due to unpredictable growing conditions. In August, the outlook was reasonable despite an early season storm and late spring wet weather. Then the rains hit, September saw a devastating hailstorm that wreaked havoc on some vineyards in the wider region. The damage is particularly significant in Saint-Émilion. However, some Pomerol producers harvested just in time, before the storm.
