Chateau LATOUR 2002

1er Cru Classé in 1855, the castle owes its name to the fortified tower on its land, dating from 1331. Owner since 1993, François Pinault has revamped the cru to make it one of the jewels of the Pauillac appellation. It is directed by Frédéric Engerer, with the advice of the oenologist Eric Boissenot. Equipped with an ultramodern technical tool, the domain also uses tradition, in particular for the plowing of the grounds carried out with the help of horses.

Cabernet-sauvignon dominates (80% of the vineyard), planted on gravel ridges up to 16 meters above sea level, while more clayey areas are reserved for merlot (18%), with a minimal presence of cabernet franc and of petit verdot. Of the 78 hectares exploited, 47 are dedicated to great wine: the famous "enclosure", the heart of the Latour terroir, including 10 hectares in biodynamics.

Matured with 100% new barrels, the Latour wine offers breed, finesse and depth. With a tight frame, woven with velvety tannins, it presents a superb aromatic richness.

Born in 1966, Les Forts de Latour could almost be a wine in its own right because it mainly comes from vines (30 hectares) outside the enclosure. Aged with 50% new barrels, more marked by Merlot (30%), it presents a remarkable level of quality for a Second wine.
