Chateau SOCIANDO-MALLET 1988

Neither classified nor bourgeois ... Sociando-Mallet, quite simply , can we read on the home page of the website of this famous Haut-Médoc estate, so just above Saint-Estèphe, in the town of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. It is a beautiful declaration of independence from Jean Gautreau, owner since 1969 and who makes his wines far from Medoc fashions and patterns.

The 85-hectare vineyard occupies a gravel soil on a clay-limestone substrate, a combination that perfectly suits the grape varieties of this cuvée, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc, which account for 55%, 40% and 5% respectively. The fermentations take place in stainless steel vats and the aging takes place in new barrels for 12 months, before 6 months in vats to homogenize the batches .

Sociando-Mallet is a Haut-Médoc that offers complex aromas of red berry fruits and an elegant woody note . Its mouth is structured, racy, fresh and powerful. This first high quality wine offers a strong aging potential, up to 20 or 30 years without problem for good vintages.
