Château TROPLONG MONDOT 2000 - Magnum

Château Troplong mondot is located on a hill north-east of Saint-Emilion, the property of Troplong Mondot has long been the source of good wine. However, since the 1980s the quality of the wine has taken off and reached a level equivalent to that of the best of the appellation. Troplong Mondot is a virile wine that knows how to be fine and elegant, it very skillfully combines opulence and freshness to give an exceptional wine for aging.

The 2000 vintage: This is the property's flagship vintage after 2005. Tasted at the château last spring, I gave it a score of 18. Tasted this week in a purchased bottle, I gave it 17.5. Very fruity on the nose, very dense on the palate, this wine has great interior concentration. For the moment, it lacks charm, but over the ventilation, it gains every day a little more. Very fresh on the nose, less southerly than the estate's 95 or 98, it develops on a meticulously constructed mouthfeel with incredible density. Recently, Christine Valette, owner, told me that she no longer wanted to taste it, she is so embarrassed by its closed nature. Nevertheless, its tasty appearance and its very great length plead for him. Wait for 2010 and before 2030.
