Domaine de la Taille aux Loups was founded in 1988 when Mr Prud'homme, a Bordeaux resident, leased 7 hectares of vines belonging to André Chapeau and Clément Germain. The 1st vintage turned out to be inconclusive, and the owner delegated the work of the vines to Christophe Mesliand, 22 years old.

Two years later, the wine broker Jacky Blot decided to take care of the vinification of the 1990 vintage from the Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. Little by little, he fell in love with the estate and devoted more and more attention to it.

In 1992, Jacky Blot became the owner of the Taille aux Loups estate. The broker has great ambitions for his wines. He is convinced of the potential of the Loire terroirs and is inspired by his visits to French terroirs to develop his organic wine, which he wishes to age pure and without residual sugars. Jacky Blot and Chrisophe Mesliand however struggled to sell their cuvées between 1992 and 1995, priced 3 or 4 times higher than the average price of the former Montlouis appellation (now Montlouis-sur-Loire), due to costly agricultural methods. The neo-winegrower survives thanks to his brokerage activity, and admits that his desire to make refined wines goes against the trend of the 1990s in the Loire. He nevertheless succeeded in building up a clientele of individuals. In 1996, he bought 4 additional hectares and continued to expand the Taille aux Loups estate, acquiring land that was not very productive but, according to him, was suitable for making great wines.
