One of the largest properties in the Médoc in terms of area, the Château Lagrange vineyard is made up of a single plot. Since the takeover in 1983 by a Japanese group, the estate has benefited from significant and necessary investments. Château Lagrange has one of the most sophisticated vats in the Médoc: 46 220 hectoliters, stainless steel vats, all fitted with a temperature control system. Aging takes place in an entirely new, air-conditioned cellar, in oak barrels, the percentage of new wood of which varies according to the vintage, but is always between 50 and 60%. Thus, vinification and aging of the great Château Lagrange wine are carried out using methods and know-how intended to obtain a wine for long aging, well-typed Saint-Julien, tannic, fairly low acidity, very rich and ripe. From the 1983 vintage, a second wine, bearing the name "Les Fiefs de Lagrange" is also produced.
