The Ardmore Distillery is located very close to Kennethmonth station, a small town south of Huntly. The railway line runs from Aberdeen to Inverness. As it lies virtually on the edge of the Speyside region, it is sometimes attributed to the Eastern Highlands.
The Ardmore Distillery heated its onion-shaped stills with charcoal until 2000 but has now switched to an indirect steam heating system.
The Ardmore Distillery is one of Scotland's largest and most modern distilleries, producing over 5,100,000 liters annually.
The distillery is the only one in the region to have used peat consistently since its inception. Ardmore also has its own cooperage.
