Château FIGEAC 1982
CHATEAU-FIGEAC, 1 st Grand Cru Classé of Saint Emilion, offers the elegance and refinement of the greatest Bordeaux wines. The estate is remarkable for its site, its exceptional terroir and its history which is closely linked to that of Saint-Emilion. Its origin dates back to the 2nd century with the FIGEACUS family, which gave it its name. The Manoncourt family, owners of the estate for over 120 years, have shaped the unique personality of today's CHATEAU-FIGEAC.
Very involved in the governance of the estate, Mrs. Thierry Manoncourt and Hortense Idoine Manoncourt , Engineer ESA Angers, represent the sustainability of the family shareholding. Madame Thierry Manoncourt and Hortense Idoine Manoncourt are part of a long-term spirit of excellence, notably guaranteeing the continuity of the FIGEAC style, created by Thierry Manoncourt (1917-2010). In 2013, the Manoncourt family appointed Jean-Valmy Nicolas , Co-Manager of CHATEAU-FIGEAC and Frédéric Faye , Director.
Unique, recognizable, racy, CHATEAU-FIGEAC expresses all the elegance of great Bordeaux. It draws its character from an exceptional and complex terroir, marked by 3 ridges of Güntzian gravel. Made from 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, its dominant Cabernet is one of its characteristics. Its unique style is revealed and enriched over time.
While some vintages such as 2001 can be appreciated from their youth, CHATEAU-FIGEAC is recognized for its very long aging potential. Many historic vintages such as 1943, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1953, 1955, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990, 2005, 2009 and 2010 testify and will testify to it. This great wine is distinguished by a rich nose and a beautiful aromatic complexity.
In the mouth, the Cabernet Sauvignon reveals, in the youth of the wine, a beautiful floral aspect accompanied by a great structure when it ages. The Cabernet Franc brings a lot of finesse in the tannins and the Merlot of roundness and body. The attack is frank, the texture silky, the complexity elegant.
The characteristic freshness of FIGEAC is accompanied by a very good persistence and its significant aging potential reveals notes of undergrowth, leather, cigar box, liquorice with always a lot of elegance.
Grape variety: Cabernet-Franc 35%, Cabernet Sauvugnon 35% and Merlot 30%
