Château MARGAUX 1990 Margaux Owned by Edward III of England, the d'Albret family and then the Montferrand family, the estate retained its military vocation until 1802, when the Marquis de La Clonilla had the fortress razed and built the residence that can be seen today. Until the early 1960s, the wines were often excellent, sometimes grandiose. As such, the legendary 1900 is one of the most renowned nectars of the century. Between 1963 and 1977, the estate experienced a difficult period, without investment, during which the quality of the wine suffered. With the arrival of the Mentzelopoulos family, and thanks to the talents of Emile Peynaud, the wines regained their level of 1er grand cru classé. 1978 marked the beginning of a succession of magnificent vintages. Château Margaux boasts a single-plot vineyard, largely planted on gravelly, sometimes clayey, soil with a high proportion of limestone. The wines are characterized by a dark color and captivating, complex aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and violet. Recent vintages boast tremendous aging potential. A rare find in the Médoc region, the estate also produces a superb, fruity, and powerful white wine.
