Château MAUCAILLOU 1995
The DOURTHE family has owned the estate since 1929. The castle, a wedding gift from one of the family's sons to his wife, is a fine example of the eclectic architecture that flourished in the Médoc at the end of the 19th century.
This Moulis-en-Médoc is produced on 90 hectares dominated by the glacial gravels with, on the side, clay-limestone soils. For this wine, Château Maucaillou combines 3 grape varieties: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and the rest in Petit Verdot, all these vines are 25 years-old on average. The vinification follows Bordeaux traditions and takes place in thermoregulated tanks, before aging for 18 months in new barrels in proportions ranging from 50 to 75%, depending on the year.
