Château LA CONSEILLANTE 1993
Château La Conseillante is situated in the east of the Pomerol appellation on the border with Saint-Émilion, neighbor to L'Evangile and Vieux Château Certan in Pomerol, and Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion. Château La Conseillante dates back to the mid-18th Century, when it was managed by Catherine Conseillan, after whom it was named. It has been owned by the Nicolas family since 1871.
The vineyard is planted on clay soil with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Grapes undergo a cold soak for up to four days, followed by alcoholic fermentation and one or two weeks of maceration. The grand vin La Conseillante is aged in barrel for 18 months on average, with 50-80% new oak depending on vintage.
