Domaine de Beaurenard - Côtes du Rhône 2019
Domaine de Beaurenard is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley. It has been a family estate for 7 generations, today managed by brothers Daniel and Frédéric Coulon. The vineyard covers 32 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 25 hectares in Rasteau and 6 hectares in Côtes-du-Rhône. They cultivate the 13 grape varieties authorised for the AOC there, and the average age of the vines is around 45 years. All vineyards are managed in certified organic farming, and also cultivated in certified biodynamics. The grapes, harvested manually at optimum maturity, are taken to the winery in small capacity boxes to prevent crushing of the grains, which would cause oxidation to be detrimental to quality.
The Côte-du-Rhône red is a blend of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%), cultivated on a stony clay-limestone soil. The grapes are co-fermented with native yeasts, with temperature control and gentle extraction. The aging is short to preserve the delicacy of the fruit.
Grape varieties: 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah
