Château YON-FIGEAC 1997
Château Yon-Figeac is a Grand Cru Classé located in Saint-Emilion, in the Right Bank of Bordeaux. With 24 hectares of vines, Château Yon-Figeac is one of the largest estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Alain Château purchased the estate in 2005. As a trained engineer with an industrial background, his passion for wine led him to learning the ropes at several estates in the Anjou region, and the opportunity arose to pursue a new winemaking adventure in Saint-Émilion. He immediately sought out the expert advice of Denis Dubourdieu, Professor at the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology. He also has surrounded himself with a team of top professionals, including consulting oenologist Christophe Ollivier and vineyard manager Paulin Escouboué. They have been using sustainable agricultural methods since 2011 and adopting a winemaking philosophy that is more respectful of the environment and the people working in the vineyard all year round.
Work in the vineyard is primarily carried out manually, allowing for maximum precision and the grapes are harvested by hand. Each plot is fermented separately and once fermentation is complete, the various batches are also aged separately. The wines that will make up the Grand Vin are aged exclusively in French oak barrels during 1 year, 35% of which is new.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
