Château Lassègue 2017
Château Lassègue is located in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Since 2003, the estate has been managed by Jess Jackson and Pierre Seillan, helped by their wives Barbara and Monique. Pierre Seillan learned the vine and wine trades from his family in Armagnac. Nicolas Seillan and his wife Christina are now involved in this family project. The vineyard covers 36 hectares, facing south and southwest of Saint-Emilion. For 250 years, sundialshave adorned the facade of the castle.
Château Lassègue 2017 is a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (45%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which is new wood. The major event that marked the 2017 vintage was the frost that impacted Saint-Emilion and the entire Bordeaux vineyard at the end of April. Regarding Lassègue, if the property's foot-of-coast plots have been affected, most of the vineyard which is located on the south coast of the appellation has the advantage of having been spared, thus benefiting from its favorable natural positioning.
Grape varieties: 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
