Alter Ego de Palmer 2013
Château Palmer is located in the appellation of Margaux, in the Médoc of Bordeaux. It was ranked as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Château Palmer was once part of the d'Issan Estate, and takes its name from Major General Charles Palmer of the British Army, who bought the land in 1814. He developed it considerably and gained a strong following for the wine in England. Since 1938, the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families have been major shareholders. The vineyards cover 55 hectares cultivated with respect for its soils and the biodiversity. In 2008, the team experimented with biodynamics but the results proved inconclusive. Since then, sheep graze, grass grows, flowers and plants with healing properties bloom, and agrochemicals have disappeared.
Alter Ego de Palmer was introduced in 1998 as a stylistically different counterpart to the Grand Vin, rather than a second wine. The 2013 is a blend of Merlot (46%), Cabernet Sauvignon (46%) and Petit Verdot (8%).
Grape varieties: 46% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot
