Domaine Combier - Crozes-Hermitage 2021
Domaine Combier is located in the heart of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, in the Rhône Valley. The origins of the Combiers in this region date back to 1936: Camille Combier came down from his Ardèche plateau and bought a property at La Roche de Glun with 3 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of apricot trees. In the 1960s, Maurice and Paulette Combier settled as farmers in the neighboring town of Pont de l'Isère. Since 1970, they are visionaries and invest all their time and money for a healthy and organic culture both in arboriculture and in viticulture. In 1990, Laurent Combier , accompanied by his wife Ghislaine , takes over the estate which then has 5 hectares of vines. and 15 hectares of fruit trees. Freshly graduated in viticulture-oenology, he decided, with the support of his parents, to build his own winemaking and aging cellar. His goal is to create his vision of the wines of Crozes-Hermitage to reach the top with in particular the Clos des Grives, a wine that is now iconic of the appellation. 25 years later, David and Julien bring together the energy, dynamism and passion of their father. The eldest, Julien, illustrates since 2014 his passion for the terroir of Crozes-Hermitage, his viticultural practices and especially his winegrower spirit. David, the youngest, has recently joined the estate. His marketing and winemaking experiences in the largest wine-growing regions of the globe bring a fresh vision and the bite of youth. The vineyard extends over 25 hectares and all plantings and replantings are mass selection to preserve the typicality of the grape varieties. The estate is certified organic .
The Crozes-Hermitage Rouge from Domaine Combier is made from Syrah , whose vines are around 30 years old. After manual harvesting and selective sorting, the fruit from the different plots is assembled.
