Domaine Martin Lapalus - Amuse Rouge 2024
The Amuse Rouge 2024 cuvée from Domaine Martin Lapalus is crafted by one of the youngest winemakers of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, established since 2023 in La Roche-de-Glun, on the banks of the Rhône, in the northern Rhône valley. The estate, created without a family wine heritage, follows an artisanal and progressive approach, built with limited means but strong determination. Martin Lapalus currently vinifies cuvées in Crozes-Hermitage and Vin de France, made from grapes notably from the Doux valley and surrounding Rhône areas. His production currently relies on purchasing carefully selected grapes, notably from the lieu-dit Les Jalets, a terroir of rolled pebbles located in the heart of the Chassis in La Roche-de-Glun. The vinifications aim to be as clean and minimalist as possible, with intervention reduced to the strict necessary. Amuse Rouge embodies this free and direct approach, conceived as a cuvée of pleasure and immediate expression.
The nose is expressive and gourmand, driven by aromas of fresh red and black fruits, evoking cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, complemented by a discreet spicy touch. On the palate, the attack is soft and juicy, with a fluid and digestible texture. The blend of Syrah, Grenache noir, and Carignan brings freshness, depth, and beautiful energy. The fruit dominates, supported by well-integrated acidity that gives the wine great momentum. The tannins are fine and lightly marked, enhancing the drinkability sensation. The balance is natural, without heaviness or excessive extraction. The finish is fresh, clean, and very accessible.
Amuse Rouge 2024 is a wine decidedly oriented towards sharing, to be enjoyed young to fully appreciate its fruit and spontaneity. It is perfectly suited for convivial tasting but retains a true Rhône identity. This cuvée reflects the spirit of a new generation of committed winemakers, attentive to their environment and the sincerity of their wines.
