Rotem & Mounir Saouma - Cuvée Inopia Rouge 2020
Rotem & Mounir Saouma is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape , in the south of the Rhône Valley. The eponymous team also owns Lucien Le Moine, a small merchant-breeder in Burgundy. The latter was founded at the end of the 1990s. From the mid-2000s, they wanted to vinify their own terroir, but finding plots of vines is very difficult in Burgundy and they also wanted to avoid competing directly with producers. partners and friends. They then turned to the region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which is not an easy option either: their strategy was to work with SAFER, the land sales intermediary managed by the government, and to focus on lots that no one else wanted. Even though the nine plots they purchased were often in deplorable condition, they were able to access very well located vines. Today, they own 8.4 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and more in the Côtes du Rhône-Villages appellation.
Inopia Rouge consists mainly of Grenache Noir, supplemented by Mourvèdre, Counoise, Syrah and Cinsault . After cold maceration in whole bunches, the wine is aged for 18 months on lees in demi-muid, caston and concrete egg .
