Domaine du Banneret - Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2021
Domaine du Banneret is a small family property of five hectares, located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley. From confidential production , only 13,000 bottles are available each year. Two vintages are produced by Audrey and Jean-Claude Vidal : a red Châteauneuf-du-Pape vinified according to ancestral methods and a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape whose production does not exceed 2,000 bottles. The vines are old, they produce low yields but of quality. The average age of the vineyard is 70 years, the old vines are regularly replaced by new vines while respecting the original planting. The management of the vineyard is done with respect for nature thanks to the use of organic composts. The nine plots are located in different localities, so the production comes from a very varied terroir.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is a blend of the 13 grape varieties authorized for the appellation: Grenache noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscardin, Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Cinsault, Picpoul Noir, Counoise and Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Clairette (white and rose), Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Picardan. The grapes are harvested in one go, for co-fermentation of all the grape varieties. Filtration is done naturally by decantation without adding yeast for fermentation. The wine is aged for 24 months in old barrels , then refined in 30 hectoliter casks and a few demi-muids.
