CLOS MOGADOR - Espectacle del Montsant 2015

Espectacle is a red wine produced in the DO Montsant by the Espectacle del Montsant winery.
The cellar is an atypical cellar, a project organized by a group of wine experts with the aim of producing a unique wine, a wine capable of transmitting all the sensations of a century-old vineyard. An authentic spectacle.
The project is formed by:
René Barbier, prestigious producer of DO Penedés, creator of great wines such as Clos Mogador. Isabelle Meyer, René's wife, is in charge of image, public relations and advertising. Christopher Cannan, of British origin but with great experience in the making of Priorat wines, as his Clos Figueres can attest. Fernando Zamora, advisor to several wineries in Priorat. Finally, Marta Conde, graduated in biology with a great experience as a technique in the Priorat.
Espectacle is a monoculture made with the Garnacha Tinta variety, with grains coming from a single property. Finca Espectacle is a small property, two hectares, situated on steep slopes, where gruesome hundred-year-olds grow.
All the work in the vineyard is manual. The harvest, which allows a careful selection of the grains, is carried out using small boxes when the grapes reach the optimum level of ripening.
The beans are transported to the cellar and are cooled to a temperature of 4ºC for about 24 hours.
Once this period has passed, the grapes are destemmed and consciously selected.
Fermentation takes place in a new, very fine-grained French oak barrel with yeasts from the same vine.
A series of cap pressing is carried out in order to obtain the desired level of extraction for both color and tannins.
Once the fermentation is finalized, a maceration is carried out, which can last from 4 to 5 weeks before aging, for a period of 14-16 months in the same barrel.
Espectacle, as the name suggests, is simply spectacular. Centenary Garnachas, a large selection and a long-term treatment, which wish to highlight the best of the land that gave birth to this wine. A great wine, world-class.
