Domaine Tempier – La Migoua – 2023
Rooted in Bandol, at the heart of Provence’s vineyards, Domaine Tempier has established itself as one of the greatest names in southern France. A legacy of the Peyraud family, pioneers in the recognition of the appellation, the estate has for decades embodied the quintessence of Mourvèdre and the grandeur of Mediterranean terroirs. Each cuvée reflects a place, a story, and a unique identity.
Situated on the heights of Beausset-Vieux, the La Migoua parcel is distinguished by its clay-limestone soils and rugged relief. A true natural amphitheater, this terroir produces wines of rare complexity, marked by a wild yet elegant personality. The 2023 vintage, sunny and balanced, allowed for optimal grape ripeness, delivering a Bandol that is powerful, generous, and remarkably fresh.
Its deep purple robe reveals fine concentration. The bouquet is intense and refined, combining ripe black fruits, garrigue, and spices, with an animal and mineral touch characteristic of La Migoua. On the palate, the attack is broad and dense, supported by fine, racy tannins. The texture combines power and elegance, offering a straight, structured wine. The long, persistent finish unfolds with notes of licorice, black pepper, and Mediterranean herbs. Already seductive in its youth after decanting, this 2023 also offers considerable aging potential.
Grape varieties: Mourvèdre (dominant), with Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah
