Second son of a family of small farmers from Haute Corrèze, Jean Moueix "moved" to Paris in the 1920s, where he successively opened with his wife Adèle, one, then several dairy products businesses. A few years later, they buy Château Fonroque where they settle permanently. The decades that followed sealed the attachment of Jean and Adèle Moueix, then of their eldest son Jean-Antoine, to the land of Fonroque. In the oldest archives, Fonroque has always been a wine-growing operation.
