Château VIEUX TAILLEFER 2017 The White of Château Vieux Taillefer is an unusual and unique wine, it is a wine from vines located in the commune of Saint Christophe des Bardes, in the heart of one of the most beautiful terroirs of Saint Emilion. The vines are over 75 years old, limestone soil with asteria, a blend of 5 different grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc for the majority, but also Sémilion Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Chasselas... This white wine is the oldest plot referenced in white grape varieties in Saint Emilion, in reality it is the only one that is not a creation, but a testimony to the history and heritage of Saint Emilion, its terroir is exceptional and its wine unique and rare. The INAO does not recognize this wine as a Saint Emilion vintage, nor does it recognize it as a Bordeaux wine under the pretext that the Merlot Blanc grape variety is an "accessory" grape variety. Sic! The INAO seems to forget that the production of white wine in Saint Emilion was the majority 200 years ago... We openly claim this belonging to the Saint Emilion appellation, not to create a buzz... but because some of these vines are more than 100 years old. Classic vinification, manual harvesting, pneumatic pressing, settling, aging in oak barrels, filtration and bottling by gravity. This micro-plot produces 1200 bottles.

Château vieux Taillefer produce a white from 75 year old vines. It is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, with some Semillon, Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, and Chasselas. More than 200 years ago, the majority of the production in Saint‐Emilion was in fact white, and this wine pays hommage to that history.
