In 1818, Jean-Marie Calvet, originally from Tain l'Hermitage in the Drôme department, decided to set up his business. Little by little anxious to develop his activity, he embarked on the wine trade. This activity is practiced mainly in Bordeaux, it is then established there.

A few years later, his grandson Jean Calvet took over. He then had the idea of extending the family business to Burgundy.

Over the years Calvet has evolved, notably thanks to the arrival of two oenologists: Jean Ribéreau-Gayon and Emile Peynaud who have enabled the company to modernize and above all to be at the forefront of technology. Since 2007, Calvet has joined the Grands Chais de France which is the first private winemaker with the objective of continuing to produce the highest quality wines possible.
