Château CANON 2006
Surrounded by first classified growths, Belair, Magdelaine, Clos Fourtet, Beauséjour, Château Canon is one of the oldest vintages of Saint-Emilion. It owes its name to an owner of the eighteenth century, Jacques Canon. Located on the southwestern side of the appellation, the vineyard rests on a varied soil, clay-limestone or sandy in the limestone subsoil. In 1996, the estate was bought by the Fournier family, who has been the owner since 1919, by the Wertheimer family of the Chanel group. This historic castle of Saint-Emilion has expanded significantly with the purchase in 2011 of 12.5 ha at the Chateau Matras, located in the extension of the property.
Thanks to numerous renovations and a rise in the proportion of Cabernet Franc to the detriment of Merlot, Canon now produces rich, structured wines of consistent quality. They offer a black dress, a very fine nose, fresh and delicate, discreet woody. On the palate, they reveal themselves round, racy and elegant.
Like the Chanel house, owner since 1996, Château Canon imposes a timeless style, refined and resolutely timeless.
